The design of this private office building reflects the client’s vision for a refined industrial aesthetic inspired by the simplicity of a warehouse environment. Balancing contemporary architecture with a familiar sense of scale, the building integrates with its surrounding neighbourhood while creating a strong connection to nature.
Open plan interiors, framed by arched windows, provide unobstructed views of the sky and surrounding tree canopy, fostering a sense of tranquillity and light. Constructed from precast concrete with a timber-boarded finish—a nod to the 1960s ‘béton brut’ movement popularised by Le Corbusier—the material palette pays homage to the site’s industrial heritage, complemented by steel-framed windows and stairs.
A striking three-storey stair void forms the building’s heart, drawing natural light through a glazed atrium. Interior design by Hecker Guthrie with Kim de Winter completes the aesthetic, while Nadine Keegan’s artistic glasswork adds cultural richness to the ground-level windows, creating an inspiring workspace.
“As clients, our primary objective was to convey a sense of volume and space, expressed through a mix of industrial components in a non-linear way. We understood that building a New York or London-style office from scratch required a contemporary feel to lend authenticity and integrity to the project, and the architects captured our vision beyond our imagination.
The result is a stunningly open, collaborative workspace where the design, materials, fit out, and furnishings bring joy and positive energy every day—something rarely found in more traditional corporate environments.”
