Media summary

CIT Woden Campus and Transport interchange is a 22,500m2 6 Star Greenstar education precinct containing the largest mass timber building by volume in Australia.

Composed of four radiused volumes with glazed links to soften and articulate the building mass, these volumes are arranged to enclose the landscaped urban realm, frame the precinct gateway and optimize climatic comfort by maximizing sunlight access to internal and external amenity areas whilst blocking cold winter winds.

The Connection to Country narrative is integral to the design.

Augmented by the River Country landscape, the façade is arranged in coloured terracotta bands expressing Valley, Bush, Mountain and Sky country. On the Callum Street façade, bleacher stairs rise from Levels 1-5 to experience ‘Walking the Ridgeline’ where internal & external environments are mirrored.

The level 5 Sky Country student commons is crowned by an oculus skylight wherein Mullian casts their shadow, tracking the movement of the sun.

CIT Woden has transformed how we educate, operate, and connect with our community.

Our state-of-the-art smart campus is adaptable, inclusive and attuned to contemporary learning and wellbeing.

Flexible, light-filled spaces and sustainable materials enhance how we work and learn together. Public-facing venues, including a student-operated restaurant and hair and beauty salon, allow us to showcase student achievement, and all-electric facilities and sustainably sourced timber construction support efficient, future-ready operations. CIT Woden is where students, staff and the community connect, learn and thrive.
