Webber Architects has completed the Camp Blackman Amenities Upgrade in Warrumbungle National Park, transforming ageing facilities into modern, accessible, and sustainable visitor infrastructure. The new amenities replace outdated 1970s buildings and composting toilets with two purpose-built structures that are low-maintenance, durable, and designed to meet current and future visitor demand.
Set within the dramatic landscape of this National Heritage–listed park, the buildings are carefully integrated with their bushland context through the use of natural sandstone, corrugated steel, and a rational architectural form. The new facility provides inclusive access, hot showers, laundry facilities, external kitchen sinks, and shaded outdoor areas to enhance comfort and usability for campers.
Sustainability is central to the project, with solar hot water, rainwater capture, efficient fittings, and design consideration for dark-sky park requirements. The result is a fit-for-purpose, environmentally responsible, and universally accessible facility that strengthens the visitor experience and cultural value of Warrumbungle National Park.
