The project responds to steadily growing enrolment pressures and local planning requirements by transforming an under-utilised area of the campus into a highly resolved learning precinct. Located between two rows of existing buildings and accessed via an established street connection, the site presented an opportunity to extend senior and science teaching facilities while consolidating car parking through careful campus masterplanning.
Via a two storey configuration for new science teaching and laboratory spaces in combination with elevated classroom extensions, the project achieves both spatial generosity and functional efficiency, allowing a constrained site to work harder for the school. The new facilities integrate seamlessly with existing circulation, delivering flexible classrooms, group teaching spaces, and student study areas that prioritise comfort, clarity, and wellbeing.
Underpinned by a long-standing collaboration between client and architect, the project demonstrates how thoughtful, sustainable design can exceed functional requirements while creating environments that actively support learning and community.
These innovations have enhanced how Clarendon’s students and staff learn and work together, providing modern, inspiring spaces where students can pursue their passions in a supportive environment. The facilities create greater opportunities for collaborative planning, high-quality teaching and practical learning in purposefully designed classrooms. They are spaces where students and staff feel safe, valued and inspired, strengthening their sense of belonging to their school, workplace and the Clarendon community.
