Smith + Tracey’s team took inspiration from the natural bushland setting and the Back Creek Reserve in designing the new assisted living facility for BASScare. The sculptural facade which features moulded, undulating panels that reference the ripples of the nearby creek – allows the building to seamlessly integrate within the site.
This boutique complex of 62 Assisted Living Apartments and community facilities over 3 levels with basement carparking, straddles the line between retirement living and residential aged care. It provides residents a discrete assisted living environment, offering tailored support designed to meet each individual’s specific needs, should they require.
With all of our projects, our goal is to create environments that enhance the relationship between people and their surroundings, Morgan Glen Iris It’s just a very welcoming building to walk into, it feel like the building already has a soul.
In April 2017 BASScare embarked on a design competition for a new type of product in the retirement living space, a luxury assisted living development in the heart of Glen Iris. Smith & Tracey’s proposed design and presentation were a stand-out and the final product has not differed greatly from the original design which has been moulded into to the tranquil creek side setting.
Smith and Tracey worked closely with BASScare’s operations team throughout the project to ensure the building, as well as looking amazing, operated the way it needed to for BASScare’s new assisted living product.
