Media summary

Arisaig Wellness Retreat is an off-grid, owner-built wellness and community facility set within one hundred acres of ecologically significant native bushland. The site holds deep ecological and cultural meaning. This informed a restrained architectural response that is highly attuned to its context.

Centred on sustainability and slow engagement, the retreat is a modest intervention that accommodates reflection, creative exchange and immersion in nature. The building extends usable space into the landscape, providing a strong indoor, outdoor connection while providing passive thermal control without increasing built complexity and cost.

The project accommodates workshops, retreats and community programs focused on the arts and holistic wellbeing. Designed as a flexible, multi-purpose space, the building responds carefully to its context while operating off grid to deliver high environmental and experiential value through economical design.
