The Adelaide University Mawson Lakes, P Building VR Room at the Mawson Lakes Campus showcases a future-focused learning environment designed to support innovation in Virtual Reality (VR), industry collaboration, and community engagement. Completed in March 2025, the project delivers a flexible, inclusive space that empowers students to explore emerging technologies through immersive, hands-on learning.

Conceived as a blank canvas, the adaptable fitout accommodates diverse working styles while supporting collaboration, co-creation, and live sharing of VR content. Our design integrates biophilic principles, high-performance acoustics, and adjustable lighting to enhance comfort, creativity, and focus.

Sustainability is central to the project, with materials selected for recycled content, low carbon impact, and environmental certification. Australian-manufactured acoustic panels support regional employment while contributing to a healthy indoor environment. The result is a distinctive, high-performing learning space that reflects the University’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and community connection.

P2-43 is a Virtual Reality Laboratory and high-end computing space designed to support large-group VR sessions without sacrificing computer-lab functionality. It features an extremely spacious layout, 21 high-end Alienware desktops, 21 Meta Quest 3 headsets stored in a dedicated room, with “bring-your-own-device” spaces between workstations. In computing mode, the room accommodates up to 40 students. For VR use, the layout allows ample movement and reduces collision risk. Throughout 2025, it supported classes, including Space Missions using Kerbal Space Program and Game Engines using Unreal Engine. Reception has been overwhelmingly positive, with bookings filling weekdays after introduction in Study Period 5.
