CALLS FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST

Independent Member – City of Mitcham Council Assessment Panel

The City of Mitcham is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced members of the community who would like to be a part of the City of Mitcham Council Assessment Panel (CAP) for a two-year term commencing in June 2022.

The CAP, established under the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016 Act (PDI Act), consists of four independent members and one Elected Member of Council.

The role of the CAP is to make decisions on development applications against the provisions of the Planning and Design Code which fall under its’ delegation, as well as advise Council on development trends and issues to inform future policy positions and decisions.

Applicants will have contemporary skills and experience in planning, development, architecture, urban design, the environment, social planning, or the law pertaining to those disciplines. Design and architecture skills and experience will be highly regarded.

Applicants should also demonstrate a general knowledge and understanding of the PDI Act 2016 and associated Regulations.

Applicants are required to hold and retain ‘Planning Level 2’ accreditation in accordance with the Accredited Professional Scheme established under the PDI Act.

A remuneration fee is paid to independent members for each meeting, which are generally held on the first Thursday of the month at 6.30pm.
