Building Back Better: Steel building materials and bushfire design

As we edge closer to Summer, the threat of another significant bushfire season presents itself across the country again.

This Lean In will focus on how architects can develop more robust residential buildings in bushfire-prone areas across Australia, consequently minimising losses and reducing risk. We’ll be taking a closer look at lessons learnt from recent bushfire events, the major risk factors that were at play and look at how we can build back better.

In this session, we’ll be joined by Michael Dawson from the Australian Steel Institute. We’ll look at steel materials systems and delve into solutions, strengths and opportunities, discussing the considerable opportunities for architects to design solutions for clients in high-risk bushfire zones.
