Green Pathways
Gold Places
The Australian Institute of Architects Queensland Chapter, in partnership with the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects, the Design Institute of Australia and the Planning Institute of Australia, launched Green Pathways, Gold Places as a shared advocacy agenda for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Brisbane 2032 is more than a sporting event. It is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to shape the future of our cities and regions. For these Games, the city will be the venue, and the legacy will be defined not only by the stadiums and arenas we deliver, but by the public spaces, landscapes, streets and connections that bring them together.
If planned well, Brisbane 2032 can leave a lasting legacy of greener networks, stronger communities and better places for everyday life.
Our four key asks of government and Games partners are:
the establishment of a Brisbane 2032 Design Coordination Unit within the Office of the Queensland Government Architect
the delivery of a 2032 Green Grid, including an urban Olympic Forest for South East Queensland
a precinct-based approach to venue design and planning in collaboration with Games partners
the development of place-based funding models that recognise design and place outcomes as long-term strategic investments
