Member survey reveals the extent of the pandemic and the need for strong economic stimulus

A survey of our members has revealed a significant stalling of construction projects as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. This emphasises the need for immediate economic stimulus in one of the economy’s biggest employing sectors.

The survey was conducted in June 2020 and comprises data from 428 responses.

Questions covered supply chain issues, delayed projects, changes to employment status and government support.

The responses help us determine the current situation for our members and inform our policy guidance to local and national government.

The Australian Institute of Architects acknowledges First Nations peoples as the Traditional Custodians of the lands, waters, and skies of the continent now called Australia.

We express our gratitude to their Elders and Knowledge Holders whose wisdom, actions and knowledge have kept culture alive.

We recognise First Nations peoples as the first architects and builders. We appreciate their continuing work on Country from pre-invasion times to contemporary First Nations architects, and respect their rights to continue to care for Country.
