The APBSA August newsletter contained clarification to the SA CPD Rules. The Important Information CPD Points item states that ‘suppliers are not recognised as providers of Formal CPD in SA’.
This advice reflects a national decision made by all Boards at an AACA forum held in 2019. However, we understand that the APBSA is the only Board to implement this decision to date.
In light of the APBSA’s advice, The SA Chapter recommends that architects registered in South Australia do not count supplier CPD for formal points. This includes:
- Supplier CPD promoted as being eligible for formal CPD
- Supplier CPD promoted through other organisations, including the Institute’s Refuel program.
In the interim if you have queries regarding the validity of the CPD you have undertaken prior to the information provided in the August newsletter, please contact the APBSA to clarify the situation.
The Institute has contacted the APBSA for clarification and will be continuing to advocate for the importance and place of educational CPD that provides architects with understanding of materials and services.
