On Saturday we had our say on Australia’s future through casting our votes in the federal election.
We now have a new Coalition government with a majority of seats in the House of Representatives, although there will be no change to the Senate’s make up until July next year.
As I mentioned in a recent Architecture Australia foreword, I subscribe to the view that an election is not the be-all and end-all, that it’s the activity between elections that matters. Leading up to the election the Institute actively advocated its key policy positions for the built environment and profession and the CEO met with several Coalition members to discuss policy issues. The Institute will now seek discussions with the new government about helping to position Australia’s response to the growing challenges for our urban areas.
