Digital Zine launch and call for submissions

In 2022 SONA is launching a national digital zine titled D(e)-Pict.

The call out is now open for SONA members to submit their work to be featured in the first edition, launching in March 2022.

The zine is intended to be published on the Institute’s website and will provide students with a platform to share their work and thinking on a national stage with the wider architectural community.

The zine will have a focus on representation in all its forms. Each zine edition will have its own unique theme and will showcase high-quality projects by students that will inspire and demonstrate what is achievable.

The inaugural theme, Take Things as They Are, is looking for work that demonstrates the power of intense contextuality and working wholly with existing conditions to create outcomes that leverage the world around us to make change.

Submissions should be visually compelling and express the creative but pragmatic potential latent within any physical, social or political context. Images can be of any kind including, videos, animations, drawings, renders, photographs, collages, prints, paintings, word art, model photos and any other expressions.

Work produced during the academic semester is very welcome (no need to create something new).

Being featured in the zine is exclusive to SONA members.

If selected your work will be published as part the first edition of D(e)-Pict.

Submissions can be made through the link below and are open until 1 February 2022.
