As part of our ongoing engagement with the Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA), the Victorian Chapter of the Australian Institute of Architects is seeking feedback from members on their experiences working within this important sector. Your responses will help us provide constructive, consolidated feedback across procurement, design, contract administration, and broader project processes, with the aim of strengthening collaboration between architects and the VSBA – Click here for survey.
We are also calling for expressions of interest to join the Victorian Chapter Awards Committee. The Committee plays a vital role in upholding the integrity of the awards program through its commitment to impartiality and the delivery of a robust, fair jury process. On behalf of the Chapter, I would like to sincerely thank Mel Bright LFRAIA (Studio Bright) for her generous service as a longstanding committee member. Mel has contributed with dedication and thoughtfulness over many years, and now steps down as we open opportunities for others to shape this important program. Applications close 12 September. Finally, there has been significant advocacy activity in recent weeks on housing and public policy. I encourage members to read the following two pieces summarising the work being undertaken in this area:
- Institute Calls for Transparency at Public Housing Inquiry
- Density Done Well: Architects Lead the Conversation on Housing
Thank you as always for your engagement and commitment to advancing the voice of architecture in Victoria.

FRAIA President of Victorian Chapter
