From humble beginnings as the Sydney Water Board in the 1960’s, Greenland today is a blend of creative town planning and design innovation. As the tallest residential tower in the city, it also hosts the best views in Sydney!
Like Quay Quarter Tower, BVN’s adaptive re-use project at the other end of town, Greenland Centre was an architectural collaboration and a true innovation. Together, BVN and Woods Bagot approached with two key goals in mind. Firstly, to create a new 40-storey building to sit on top of an existing and much smaller one. And secondly, to create a vast outdoor living space reimagined for a new age of high-rise apartment living.
The result: a radical adaptation that shows how an aging office building can be upcycled into contemporary living. And the “Sydney Balcony” – an entirely new design for outdoor living at great height.
