Queensland
Gold Coast and Northern Rivers
Natura looks to respond to the changing patterns of living on the Gold Coast and to engage with its extremely desirable location of The Esplanade, Burleigh.
Designed to offer an alternative to detached housing along the coast, it draws on the principles and patterns of much of Queensland’s early beach house architecture through its openness, connection to the outdoor environment and striated form. Natural ventilation and filtered light are prioritised in planning, where operable living zones and screened bedrooms are linked by unobstructed breezeways which promote cross ventilation using coastal winds.
Similar to the natural scape that surrounds, layering is an important element of the design and is evident in the poetic balance between built form and landscaping of the street interface. The result is a design approach that brings a strong yet elegant tower that arises from a landscape textured base to contribute to the Burleigh ground and skyscape.
There is always a beautiful struggle between developer and architect in design; balancing vision with commercial requirements – Natura is a testament to the ultimate success of this balance. The design provides a luxury lifestyle offering while being exceptionally efficient. Apartments are highly considered, with generous yet controlled sizes; all rooms are provided access to full-height natural lighting and cross-flow ventilation. Engagement with the urban realm through landscape and elevated public amenity celebrates what it is to be part of Burleigh Heads. The region promotes nature, activation, community and healthy lifestyle, the design of Natura is symbiotic of this locale.
