The original 30-year-old library possessed a robust framework despite its dated appearance. Embracing environmental responsibility, the Holy Spirit Community elected to adapt and reuse the existing structure rather than pursue demolition and new construction.
The school community envisioned the Library/Resource Centre as an inviting haven—a space where children could both learn and relax while forging a tangible connection with nature. The school principal championed the incorporation of a tree as the central design motif.
This idea was realised through an innovative abstraction of arboreal elements. Reinterpreted tree trunks, branches, and a sweeping canopy serve as the dynamic focal point, engaging young minds and inspiring a playful sense of exploration—complete with a dedicated treehouse that rekindles our inner youth.
This space has allowed us to support more students with their Literacy. It is a welcoming environment that has captured the curiosity of the students and they want to engage in the life of the Learning space
