The University of Wollongong’s (UOW) Sustainable Buildings Research Centre (SBRC) achieved full marks under the world’s toughest sustainability standard for buildings, the Living Building Challenge (LBC) in 2019.
The result confirms that the SBRC building has set a new benchmark as arguably the most sustainable building in Australia.
Join us today for a guided virtual tour of the building and Q&A session as we discuss the building certification systems, biophilic references (sunshade, tree-like supporting structures), the main operation of the building (green walls and communal areas), technology inbuilt (thermal slab, ground source heat pumps, transpired solar collector, green IT system) and other key aspects of design that earned the building the full marks under LBC.
This session is supported by our Principal Corporate Partner BlueScope.
BlueScope worked closely with UOW on this project beyond the typical role of a material supplier. Through real-life product testing and research collaboration, both UOW and BlueScope achieved the outstanding building sustainability results we see today.
