ENTRY FAQ
ENTRY FAQs
1. What category should I enter into?
As a general rule, the project should be entered in the category which is the building’s predominant use, however provided the entry material speaks to the category the project is entered in, it can be entered into any eligible category*, or multiple categories (bear in mind, multiple entry fees will apply).
*Projects entered into the Small Project category cannot be entered into any other categories. It also cannot include any residential projects.
2. I submitted my entry but now need to make a change. The entry period is still open, are you able to let me edit it again?
Yes, entrants are permitted to make changes until the entry period is closed. Please contact nsw@architecture.com.au so your entry can be reopened for you to edit.
3. I received a Named Awards in the NSW Regional Awards. Do I have to enter again into the NSW Awards to progress my entry?
Congratulations! All projects that received a Named Award or Award at the Regional Awards are invited to progress to the NSW Awards of the same year. The NSW Chapter team will copy your entry over. You will need to submit this entry to be considered in the state awards. Regional Named Awards winners will receive automatic shortlisting in the state awards.
4. I disagree with how I have been attributed (or not attributed) on an entry. What should I do?
The Institute has an attribution policy and a formal attribution window during which questions and concerns can be raised to both nsw@architecture.com.au and awards@architecture.com.au.
5. I won an award at last year’s NSW Awards, am I allowed to enter again?
No, once your project receives either a Named Award and/or Award it is no longer eligible to be entered into the Awards. Projects that were not awarded, or received a commendation, a permitted to enter into one more award program.
6. I have entered the NSW Awards, is it compulsory for me to attend the presentations to jury?
While it is not compulsory for entrants to attend the jury presentations, it is highly recommended. The presentations are a crucial part of the judging process and not presenting may limit the potential of the project being shortlisted. The NSW Chapter is able to facilitate virtual presentations as required.
7. What happens if my entry is shortlisted and I cannot make the site visit time?
The NSW Awards is a high volume program, with many shortlisted entries placed around the state. The site visit schedule is very tight and often only has one workable route. Accordingly, the awards team is not able to accommodate any changes or any specific requests for time slots. If you are not able to make the proposed slot, it is best to arrange for someone else to attend.
8. I received an Award and/or Named Awards at the NSW Awards. When will I find out about my National Awards site visit?
All projects that receive an Award or Named Award at the NSW Awards enter the pool of entries for the National Awards of the same year. The National Awards jury reviews all the progressing entries and the relevant jury citations to form a shortlist for the National Awards. If your progressing project is shortlisted, the National Awards team will contact you to set up a site visit time and share details of the National Awards Gala.
9. I was awarded the Premier’s Prize at the NSW Awards. When will I find out about my National Awards site visit?
Only projects that receive an Award or Named Award are eligible for progression to the NSW Awards. Projects that win Prizes are not eligible for progression.
