The Queensland Chapter had their fourth 2023 Regional Awards event on Friday, 26 May.
The North Queensland Regional Architecture Awards were held at HeyDays in Townsville. 6 Entries had been entered for the North Queensland Region, this including categories of Public, Residential Housing – Multiple Housing and Educational Architecture. A variety of projects were named award winners and commendations were given across the categories.
Named award winners:
- Proserpine Entertainment Centre by CA Architects and Cox Architecture, The Walter and Oliver Tunbridge Award for Building of the Year AND People’s Choice Award, North Queensland
- Townsville Sports Precinct by Conrad Gargett, Regional Project of the Year
Commendations:
- Proserpine Entertainment Centre by CA Architects and Cox Architecture
- Townsville Sports Precinct by Conrad Gargett
- North Shore State School by Conrad Gargett
- Shute Harbour Marine Terminal, by AECOM Australia
- James Cook University Burralga Yumba Residences, by nettletontribe architecture
All commended projects in the series of regional awards progress to Queensland State Awards consideration. The shortlist is judged by the Queensland State Awards Jury.
