Stack + Field deals with traditional expectations of a home on a constrained inner-city site. It fragments the building into stacked volumes and a sequence of internal and outdoor rooms spanning the entire site. Rather than compressing space into a single mass, the project is conceived as a spatial journey, using layered thresholds, courtyards and sectional shifts to extend perceived depth, and maximise daylight access, natural ventilation and amenity. The strategy reduces visual bulk while maintaining neighbourhood scale and environmental performance. Stack + Field demonstrates how small urban dwellings can achieve generosity and flexibility through spatial intelligence and a highly articulated building fabric rather than size.
