Lake Cathie Public School | SHAC

Lake Cathie Public School has been transformed into a vibrant, future-ready education precinct seamlessly blending learning, community, and country. The redevelopment repurposed existing structures, added 15 new classrooms, a dedicated Support Learning Unit, and multipurpose community hall, creating flexible, stage-based clusters supporting team teaching and outdoor learning.

The design integrates ecological play spaces, outdoor classrooms, and native landscapes connecting students with the natural environment, encouraging exploration and environmental stewardship. Sustainable strategies – including solar panels, water-sensitive design, food production, a revegetation corridor and energy-monitoring systems – turn the school itself into a living learning tool.

By reorienting the campus toward Wallum Drive and adjoining sporting precinct, the school strengthens links with the wider community while providing safe, accessible, and inclusive spaces for students and local residents. Lake Cathie Public School stands as a model of adaptable, culturally-rich, and environmentally responsible design, leaving a lasting legacy for learning and the Lake Cathie community.
