Glasshouse | bureau^proberts

Glasshouse is an architectural expression of coastal landscape, suspended between the ancient landforms of Burleigh Heads and the Pacific Ocean. Conceived by bureau^proberts for Spyre, the project abstracts and amplifies the qualities of place through a form that steps with the natural topography, opening to the ocean while remaining grounded in the terrain. Solid and planted elements form a sheltered rear façade, dissolving into a rippling envelope of curved, fluted glass. The façade allows expansive outward views while maintaining a sense of refuge within, balancing openness, privacy, & atmospheric connection. Internally, the apartments unfold as a linear sequence of open, invited, & private realms. Landscape is woven throughout, from planted façades to a rooftop sanctuary of cascading pools & gardens – a “headland within a headland.” Crafted as two bespoke dwellings, the scheme balances luxury with low impact density – providing multiple high quality homes, for the land, cost and resource typically required for one.
