Kindred 1 expertly marries Fremantle’s historical architecture with modern family needs. The project restores key heritage elements—such as the original facade and verandah—while introducing new, adaptable spaces, including skillion roofs and contemporary materials. The design respects the home’s cultural roots, ensuring a functional, flexible space for a growing multigenerational family. The project was praised by the council and DRP for its aspirational approach to infill development.
Through careful collaboration with engineers, heritage consultants, and landscape designers, Kindred 1 integrates modern elements like steel and glass alongside the preserved heritage fabric. Durable, sustainable materials, including reclaimed bricks and passive design strategies, ensure long-term value and energy efficiency. The design also prioritizes adaptability, with spaces that can evolve with the family’s needs, while maintaining the charm and character of the original home. Ultimately, Kindred 1 is a sustainable, cost-effective response to both client and environmental needs.
Our home is a bright, organised sanctuary where everything has its place. Every room is filled with natural light, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Thoughtfully designed, it offers spaces for the kids to play and explore while keeping the sense of togetherness intact. It’s a place where both independence and connection for three generations thrive. We love it.
