Media summary

Once a fragmented single-level home from the 1950s, Contour House has been transformed by Zen Architects into a seamless blend of indoor and outdoor living that embraces a linear layout complementing the gentle contours of its surrounding gardens. The façade, adorned in warm, brick-like hues of spotted gum, imbues the house with a sense of earthy sophistication, while its subtle Oriental undertones hint at a deeper narrative of place and culture.

Inside, an expansive two-storey void invites a sense of openness balanced by the grounded essence of darker materials like polished concrete and natural slate. Every room affords singular and generous views of the lush gardens framed by expansive fixed and operable glazing that cultivates a sensorial engagement with nature. Together, architecture, landscape design and interior decoration fluidly converse to shape a living experience deeply entwined with context and the beauty of the natural world.
