Bunurong People of Bunurong Country
Victoria
Sited on Bunurong Country, WOWOWA Clique is a delightfully clicky, supercharged appendage to a 1940’s clinker brick duplex. This adorned deco goddess is a sensitive ambassador of its streetscape, alluding to a wonderland within.
Its slender form draws respectfully from the original’s mix of styles through artfully stepped brickwork and arched details. Precise proportions and sightlines draw closer connections between the house, its inhabitants, and their little cul de sac village.
The architecture’s smarts is in reimagining the previously unused side of the block to create a new front entry sequence, comprising a bike shed, laundry + study area, leading to an expansive kitchen, dining + living. A double height volume establishes spatial generosity at the core. Reflecting the family’s exuberant character, the room is alive with colour.
Through rigorous mapping, adaptive process, decisive use of colour and sentimental detail, this project proves that a small home can be bold, connective + abundant.
“Our home renovation has significantly improved how we live, work, and relax.
The open-concept layout and addition of a home office, laundry, and master bedroom allows easy flow between work and family life, meeting all our must-haves. The front of the house addresses our children’s growing needs, while the cozy living area fosters quality time.
At the heart is our joyful kitchen, the hub for gatherings. Natural light floods in, including via the pocket garden in the middle of the house, boosting our well-being.
Overall, the design reflects us – comfortable, functional, bright, and perfectly aligned with our ‘70s Australiana style.”
