Bunurong Country
Victoria
A new house on a large block, this residence brings the garden inside. Through a planimetric arrangement that separates the differing living styles of its occupants and their loved ones, the house allows for a diversity of spaces, and gathers the extended family centrally when they are around.
To embark on building a new home for the first time in one’s 70s required bravery and trust. We engaged MI—JI, feeling that emerging architects would be au fait with sustainability, new materials and design concepts.
Our brief was specific. We required future proofing in the form of wide doorways and access areas with no steps to negotiate. Light and courtyard garden views were other considerations, in addition provision for extended family gatherings and specific client lifestyle and artistic pursuits.
MI—JI have created for us a light-filled, calm ambience, where floor plan, design details and textural effects are appreciated daily.
