2023 Membership Category Changes

Evolving to support your architecture journey

As part of our ongoing commitment to improving our membership experience and offerings to all the members we support, we’re simplifying our membership categories for 2023 and beyond, ensuring we continue to meet the evolving needs of the profession.

This is the first phase of our commitment to reviewing our member experience, with a review of the structure of our A+ membership continuing into next year.

Category changes

Understanding the changes

Amongst many changes, we’ve reduced our membership categories from 11 to just seven, which more closely reflects the logical progression of an architect’s career journey.

We’re also introducing a range of flexible and affordable options, supporting our members through career and personal life events including recent graduation and registration, parental leave, post-graduate leave and retirement.

In this video, General Manager – Membership, Michael Linke explains the category changes in more detail.

Please note: The announced change to the Affiliate category eligibility is currently under review by National Council and the Board and, until a decision is made, the current eligibility of bachelor degree qualification or higher in a built environment related discipline remains in place
