Residential Architecture | Houses (NEW)

Quality, time, cost… A paradigm that Architects contend with on all projects. However, what sets this project apart was the client, architect and builder’s willingness to embark on the journey to deliver something beautiful on time and on budget.

The brief; deliver a contemporary home for a young professional couple with a young child and a baby on the way. The site features a centrally located established eucalyptus tree. Design brief resolution orientated all habitable spaces towards north and around the tree’s footprint. Externally, cost effective brick and timber cladding, were composed to articulate the home’s façade. Polished concrete, timber floors, terrazzo benchtop and tiles, brickwork blend the interior and exterior materials palette seamlessly.

With the house nearing completion and baby’s third trimester concluding, the race was on. Fortunately, the family was able to bring baby into a finished home that will become the backdrop for many enjoyable years to come.

Client perspective:
How does the design benefit the way you live/work/play/operate/educate/other?

We were looking for an architect who was able to design a house that would stand the test of time and grow with our young family. When we met Steven from Thursday Architecture we knew he was the one who would be able to bring our ideas into reality. Steven is a straight shooter and his designs are on point. He was able to maximise the use of block to its full potential. Steven and his team are extremely collaborative and efficient. We get so many compliments on the house and love the design.
