Treasures of Tusculum Exhibition Opens at Tusculum for 2025 Australian Architecture Conference

A joyful evening at Tusculum in Potts Point marked the official opening of Treasures of Tusculum on Tuesday night, presented as a Fringe event of the 2025 Australian Architecture Conference.

Running from 30 April to 4 May, the free exhibition invites visitors to explore the rich history of architecture in New South Wales through a curated selection of archival material, personal records and historic donations. The exhibition pays tribute to the enduring influence of those who have helped shape the architectural profession in the state.

Tuesday night’s celebration brought together members of the architectural community, supporters of heritage, and special guests including Clover Moore AO. The evening acknowledged the generous contributions of Jennifer Preston, David Welsh, Hugo Chan, Linda Babic, Robert Gaspirini and Noel Thompson, all of whom have played a part in preserving and sharing this important history.

Speakers on the night reflected on the role of archives as dynamic, living resources. Their true value lies not in preservation alone, but in accessibility and engagement—ensuring the stories of the past remain relevant and instructive for future generations.

Treasures of Tusculum is open for a limited time, closing on Saturday, 4 May. Visitors are encouraged to drop in and discover the people, drawings and legacies that continue to shape architectural practice in NSW.
