The Australian Institute of Architects and its 12,000+ members are united against all forms of aggression against peaceful people across the world. At the moment, the most prominent of these conflicts is the invasion of Ukraine by Russia.
Humanity is better than this; there is always a preferable alternative to violent conflict. We concur with the International Union of Architects when they say that ‘the architectural community is fighting for a better planet. We are distressed that the war is doing the opposite. We must stay focused on endowing a better world to future generations.’
We will continue to consult with our associated international organisations to determine how we may best contribute as an architectural community to support humanitarian needs and efforts for the people of Ukraine.
