On Monday 27 October, built environment leaders gathered at the State Library of Queensland for City Resilience: Insight to Impact — a cross-disciplinary forum exploring how we move from ideas to implementation in creating resilient, liveable cities.
Expertly emceed by Professor Anthony Burke (UTS), the full-day conference brought together the Australian Institute of Architects, Australian Institute of Landscape Architects, Planning Institute of Australia and Engineers Australia, proudly supported by Bondor Metecno.
The program opened with a compelling keynote by Emeritus Professor Barbara Norman (University of Canberra / ANU), setting the tone for a day of collaboration and challenge.
Panels and presentations featured insights from Shy Tay, Steve Dredge, Dr Damian Madigan, Sam Bowstead, Jade Bebbington, Malcolm Smith, Emma Maratea, Liza Neil, Dr Sebastian Pfautsch, Martin O’Dea, Caroline Stalker, Glen Power, Martin Garred and Brooke Veliscek — examining climate adaptation, housing design, integrated governance and urban heat mitigation.
Interactive sessions invited participants to translate professional insight into collective action, reinforcing that true resilience demands partnership across disciplines.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to such an energising and forward-thinking day — a clear demonstration that resilient cities are built through shared purpose and design collaboration.
