The Queensland architecture community came together at Brisbane City Hall on Friday 26 June for the 2026 Queensland Architecture Awards, an evening dedicated to celebrating outstanding design, professional achievement and the positive impact of architecture across the state.

Hosted by Queensland Chapter Executive Leader Kim Richards, the annual gala event brought together architects, clients, consultants, industry partners, emerging professionals and supporters of the profession to recognise excellence across a diverse range of projects and practice areas.

A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Queensland Medallion to 205 North Quay, designed by Hassell, REX and Richards & Spence. The project was also recognised with The Beatrice Hutton Award for Commercial Architecture and the Art & Architecture Prize, making it one of the most celebrated projects of the night.

Chair of Juries Michael Keniger reflected on the exceptional calibre of entries received in 2026, with awarded projects demonstrating innovation, technical excellence, sustainability and meaningful contributions to the communities they serve.

Projects delivering significant community and social outcomes were also celebrated throughout the evening. Gindaja Training Facility and Accommodation by People Oriented Design received the People’s Choice Prize and a Social Impact Prize, recognising its meaningful contribution to community development. Cow Bay Primary Health Care Clinic by Clarke and Prince Architects was also recognised with a Social Impact Prize, highlighting the role architecture can play in improving access to essential services in regional communities.

The Regional Project of the Year Prize was awarded to Hinterland Adventure Playground Cooroy by Robinson Architects, celebrating the project’s contribution to its local community and regional Queensland. The EmAGN Project Award was presented to Hymba Yumba Independent School Performance Hall and Arts Building by Deicke Richards, recognising excellence in emerging architectural practice.

The Queensland Chapter extends its congratulations to all winners, award recipients, entrants, clients and project teams whose work was recognised throughout the program. We also acknowledge the dedication and expertise of the juries whose commitment makes the awards program possible.

A sincere thank you is extended to the Queensland Architecture Awards sponsors for their ongoing support: Swatchbox, Allegion, Brickworks, Total Synergy, Bondor, BlueScope, Dulux, Lysaght, Alspec and Peach Careers.

As the state’s highest architectural honours, the Queensland Architecture Awards provide an important platform to recognise design excellence and celebrate the people and projects shaping our built environment. Winners will now progress to the National Architecture Awards in October, where they will represent Queensland on the national stage.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this memorable evening celebrating the very best of Queensland architecture.
