Sunshine Coast
The Sunshine Coast Design book sets an important vision for the Sunshine Coast region. It has been developed to inspire and raise awareness about the value of good design and how to achieve appropriate sub-tropical design to help protect and enhance all that we love about the Sunshine Coast. The book and education tools encourage everyone to design for this place, not just anywhere, and to consider the climate, orientation, resilience, climate change, views, our indigenous and cultural heritage and our beautiful natural environment.
The Sunshine Coast Design book is an important reminder that we are not Melbourne, Sydney or Tasmania, but instead that we are a unique coastal and hinterland region that needs to be enhanced and protected through design that is relevant to this place. The Yellow Book, the Cool Homes for the Sunshine Coast booklet, the compass and online course are all accessible and easy to use.
The Sunshine Coast Design book, and education campaign, plays an important role in helping to raise awareness of the value and importance of design in the everyday world and how important it is to design for the climate, orientation, resilience and climate change. The book has enabled us to communicate the needs of the community and council to a range of stakeholders including developers, builders, design related professionals and anyone buying, building or renovating.
Good design is about designing for place, people and the future and it needs to be clear that good design influences the future of our region.
