This project transforms a traditional Queensland cottage into a contemporary family home, balancing heritage charm with modern living. Located on a compact 10-metre-wide site, the design introduces a carefully considered extension that enhances space, light, and connection to its landscape. Â A central courtyard, oriented to welcome morning sun and shield the western light, mediates the space between the original cottage and the new extension. Anchored by a mature tree, the courtyard reinforces subtropical living, seamlessly linking indoor and outdoor spaces. Thoughtfully crafted, this home celebrates light, materiality, and family life, offering a refined and elegant interpretation of modern Queenslander living.
The renovation of our house has transformed the way we live, creating a home that feels calm, functional, and connected to the outdoors. Large openings and thoughtful design invite natural light inside, making every space feel brighter and more open. Improved heating and cooling ensure year-round comfort, and smart storage solutions have reduced clutter and stress. Overall, the build enhances our comfort, efficiency, and wellbeing, supporting how we live each day.
