Hodgkison’s design for the new Senior School at Maitland Lutheran School on Guranda (Yorke Peninsula) creates a nurturing environment that prioritises student well-being, inclusion, safety and environmental connection.

A central focus of our architectural strategy is to reduce the risk of bullying by creating visual connections between all teaching spaces and opening amenities to the outdoors. The design utilises passive supervision to ensure safe, inclusive spaces for all students. The interiors and palette were guided by biophilic principles, which extend to the landscape and vegetable gardens, fostering a deep bond with the local environment.

The facility features specialised, industry-standard resources, including professional recording suites, contemporary science labs and metalworking workshops, granting regional students access to specialised learning tools. 

The new Senior School empowers students and educators, supports diverse identities and strengthens community connection through welcoming, flexible, and safe learning environments, continuing to do so for all members of the community.
