The Kogarah Bay House is a contemporary family residence that reinterprets Mediterranean influences within an Australian coastal context. Designed for a large household, the home balances architectural clarity with warmth, creating spaces that are both generous and highly functional. Curved forms, carefully proportioned volumes, and a restrained palette of stone, timber, and travertine give the house a calm, timeless presence while responding sensitively to its waterfront setting.
The layout is organised to maximise natural light, views, and cross-ventilation, with strong connections between indoor and outdoor living areas supporting everyday family life and entertaining. Despite its scale, the house feels open and welcoming, with thoughtful planning ensuring privacy and comfort throughout.
As one of the first contemporary new homes in this evolving part of Kogarah Bay, the project establishes a benchmark for high-quality residential design demonstrating how carefully considered architecture can enhance both daily living and the wider streetscape.
This house genuinely supports the way we live day to day. We spend more time together because the spaces connect so naturally, while still giving everyone privacy when they need it. The home feels light, calm, and comfortable in every season, and the strong indoor–outdoor connection has changed how we relax and entertain. Importantly, the house has grown with our family. The spaces are adapting as our children get older, and nothing feels over-designed or precious. It’s a home that works hard for us and still feels effortless.
