Crescent House is the renovation of a 1970s beach home on a bush-edged site on the Mornington Peninsula, reworked to support a family of four relocating from the city full-time. The project adopts a surgical approach, retaining the spatial qualities of the original house while carefully removing ad hoc additions that had accumulated over time.
A defining move is the introduction of a unifying external veil, formed from a simple timber structure shaped into three subtle crescent geometries. Clad in a deep green tone drawn from native flora, the house recedes into its re-vegetated setting.
The entry sequence is reimagined through a boardwalk that moves through the landscape, leading into generous living spaces. New additions extend toward the bay, creating elevated outdoor spaces among the trees, while bedrooms and family spaces below are embedded into the landscape, strengthening the home’s connection to the garden.
