New South Wales
Bay Pavilions Arts + Aquatic is a unique community facility located in Batemans Bay on the picturesque south coast of NSW. The building has been inspired by the stunning natural landscape and features an organic design language that makes extensive use of sustainably sourced timber.
Bay Pavilions comprises two Pavilions connected via a shared foyer Link. The Arts Pavilion includes a 350 seat theatre, arts workshops and community meeting rooms. The Aquatic Pavilion includes an indoor aquatic centre with playful waterslide tower, gym and program rooms.
The central foyer Link has been carefully designed to allow the activities and events associated with the arts, leisure, health and recreation to be visible and coalesce. It creates a vibrant, dynamic meeting place that invites a broad cross section of the community to engage and participate. Bay Pavilions represents an innovative example of what inclusive and holistic community facilities can be.
Bay Pavilions has created a community hub that enables people of all ages and abilities to come together to participate in and enjoy the arts, aquatics, leisure and fitness – a holistic place of well being.
Delivering these facilities in an innovative integrated model has enabled Council to provide first class facilities in an efficient manner, exposing the community to a range of services and meeting their long term desire for a theatre and indoor aquatic centre.
The communities response has been overwhelmingly positive, having a positive impact to the lives of the many people who visit this amazing landmark building.
