Thank you Brickworks!

As many members know, the end of April sees our beloved partner, Brickworks, closing their design studios across the country from May 1, and some design centres – including the Launceston Design Centre and the Hobart Design Studio. These spaces have played a pivotal part in celebrating architecture, and have provided a space for conversation, celebration and connecting for the design, building and construction professional industries over many years.

The Hobart Brickworks Design Studio has hosted countless Institute events over the years, from Christmas Parties, committee meetings, breakfasts, exhibitions, book launches, award after parties, our Open House Hobart hub, and more.

The Launceston Design Centre has become our home in the north, similarly hosting us for numerous events over the years – serving as our home base for Open House Launceston, being the annual location for the Tasmanian Architecture Awards exhibitions, holding Christmas parties, and hosting Practice Forums.

The wonderful team at Brickworks have done all of the this and more with their trademark hospitality and catering, and without their generosity, we would be unable to deliver these events in the same way. An enormous thank you to all of the team over the years who have worked so hard to make all this and more happen. We would also like to extend our thanks to Kalindra Heyes, who is departing the Brickworks team with the closure of the Hobart Design Studio, and wish her all the best in her future endeavours.

While the dedicated event spaces may be closing, the support that Brickworks provides to the Institute isn’t ending. They are still a valued partner, supporting many of the events that the Institute runs – both locally, around Australia, and around the globe, and we look forward to this continued collaboration.
