Photography by Nikolas Strugar, Ravens At Odds For Gold Coast open house
Over the month of October, Gold Coast Open House (GCOH) Architecture Festival has been running an outstanding program.
Having partnered with three events this year, the Queensland Chapter of the Australian Institute of Architecture is proud to share the photos below taken by Nikolas Strugar, Ravens at Odds.
Our events included an engaging panel discussion, Open House Talks Session Designing liveable houses for life: Future proofing homes that will adapt to our changing needs, Ask an Architect and Architect for a Day.
The Open House Talks session the panel discussed what the anticipated benefits of the NCC update are for occupants and the supply chain, and how it might contribute to a more liveable and just city. The panel will also questioned what might have been left out of the amendments and how minimum practice and standards could be more inclusive. To watch the recording of the talk, please visit GCOH weblink here.
Ask an Architect, sponsored by Alspec, allowed members of the public to book a dession to discuss design ideas for their home development project with a registered architect.
Architect for a Day, sponsored by Abedian School of Architecture, Bond University, invited grade 10, 11 or 12 students to join us for a free Architect for a Day workshop. Working in small groups to address a hypothetical design brief, explore design ideas, and troubleshoot real world constraints, our team of university lecturers and professional architects guided students to address the design needs, giving a taste of what it is like to be an Architect for a Day.
