Australian Institute of Architects Welcomes New Heritage Council
“The Australian Institute of Architects welcomes the appointment today of the new Heritage Council led by Dr Duncan Marshall AM,” ACT Chapter President, Jane Cassidy said.
“It’s pleasing to see diverse representation on the Heritage Council including those with proven track records and expertise in the management of heritage buildings and architecture in our national capital.”
“The Institute has been calling for reform of heritage arrangements as our members and the community have been experiencing unacceptable delays for approvals on heritage projects. We’re pleased to see action is being taken.”
“Importantly, with the new Heritage Council in place, heritage business-as-usual activities can resume while an independent review of ACT heritage arrangements is conducted along with a parliamentary inquiry,” she said.
