Ngarara Place, RMIT University
Ngarara Place is an addition to the cultural and campus life of RMIT University. The purpose of the built project was to establish visible presence and recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and histories as connected among the lands of the Kulin Nation. The building design and landscape were influenced by Country, with culture reflected through motifs and contemporary art.
Institute of Koorie Education, Deakin University
Institute of Koorie Education is a built project at Deakin University Waurn Ponds Campus. The building aspires to express the spirit of Koorie culture and connect with the natural environment and landscape. The building is an educational institution with facilities to promote community.
James Cook University Outdoor Learning Centre
The Indigenous Outdoor Learning Centre (OLC) at JCU’s Douglas Campus is a built project completed in 2014. It’s an educational space designed with an outdoor teaching environment that promotes two way learning of different cultures. The project was built using sustainable practices and Indigenous knowledge.
Kimberwalli
The Kimberwalli Centre for Excellence is a community lead built project in Western Sydney. The project set out to create an educational community space that supports Aboriginal youth between high school and higher education. The Centre was designed using BVN’s Designing with Country methodology – an approach that connects First Nations thinking and contemporary architecture.
