Media summary

What started as a simple 10×10 metre garage has been transformed into a warm and generous family home that feels far larger than its compact plan might suggest. The original structure offered little more than a bare concrete floor, a wall of tilt turn garage doors and a corrugated roof, yet its simplicity became the project’s greatest asset. Instead of demolishing or expanding the building, the renovation is designed entirely within the existing envelope. Designed for a growing family, the home fits three bedrooms, a mezzanine loft, study, living spaces, and essential amenities within 100 square metres. Large new openings frame green views and enable natural ventilation, along with passive solar design eliminates the need for mechanical heating or cooling. The project prioritises smart planning, durable materials, and low embodied carbon, to creating a crafted, efficient home built to last.
