The Silos Accommodation by Cooee Architecture reimagines a disused 60-year-old grain silo into a sustainable, luxury farmstay that celebrates rural heritage while driving regional tourism. The project brings to life the dream of Nicholas and Amber Heffernan, fifth-generation farmers, to transform an agricultural relic into an immersive guest experience that connects visitors with farming life, food production, and landscape. The solar-passive optimised design is choreographed for moments of discovery, encouraging guests to encounter the silo, surrounding nature, and the night sky in new ways. The adaptive reuse project champions sustainability with energy-efficiency, recycled materials, biodiversity enhancement and climate-change adaptability, while meeting client goals of diversification, legacy, and story-telling. Delivered through deep collaboration between architect, builder, owners, landscape designer and engineers, The Silos proves that luxury and sustainability can co-exist. Now a thriving cultural and tourism asset, the project demonstrates architecture’s power to create lasting economic value and elevate regional identity.
