Built in 1911, the Imperial Hotel building in Clifton NSW enjoyed a colourful life until a landslide forced the main road to the town close in 2003. The hotel closed soon after, enduring a long period of abandonment that saw significant deterioration of the local icon until new owners bought it in 2015. Keen to focus on promoting the building’s history and make the most of the spectacular coastal location, the Imperial at Clifton has been given a new lease on life, adapted and reborn as a contemporary, community-minded hospitality venue which could serve as a catalyst for rejuvenation of the area.
