Sanctuary Early Learning Centre Health and Knowledge Precinct is located in the new Proxima building at Lumina, a pioneering innovation precinct on the Gold Coast. Located beside the Gold Coast University Hospital, the precinct has a focus on co-location and collaboration between hospitals, health providers, universities and start-ups. Working together with Griffith University’s Hopkins Centre and a range of health professionals, the new centre will be the first of its kind designed to nurture all children, including those with additional needs and abilities.
Collectively, we saw design success as a space that would allow for all children, families and educators to embrace difference, supporting the Early Learning sector to reduce stigma of children with additional needs, and provide a space that could platform early intervention to support mainstream schooling.
Sanctuary Early Learning Adventure at the Health and Knowledge Precinct is now alive with laughter, learning, and connection.
Thoughtfully designed with inclusion at its core, the centre’s unique sanctuaries are providing children with quiet, calming spaces for regulation and rest. The vibrant play areas have been brought to life, sparking imagination, storytelling, and endless fun. Every space has been intentionally created to support all children, fostering a sense of belonging and confidence as they explore, create, and grow.
