Media summary

Located on Gadigal Country in the former industrial suburb of Alexandria, the pavilion redefines the eastern edge of Perry Park. Home to a new FIFA-sized playing field, the project forms part of the local government’s 2030 vision to deliver active sports infrastructure across the city.

Amenities and pavilion buildings are currently enjoying a renaissance across the urban landscape. These simple structures offer an opportunity to express architecture in its most essential form—utilitarian, yet highly legible. As civic buildings, they demonstrate care and investment in the public domain.

Once a rubbish tip on the city’s periphery, the site has been transformed into a well-loved place at the heart of Alexandria, creating a vibrant space where the community can come together.

Scale Architecture has designed a fantastic new amenities pavilion at Perry Park which brings delight and joy to the myriad of sporting groups that use it.
Economical but generous, with natural light, passive ventilation and shade for spectators, Scale’s pavilion is meticulously detailed and built. The pavilion forms part of the gateway to the Perry Park sports precinct and establishes civic presence through material innovation and robustness. It is a real and valuable asset to our community.
