Medlow Bath Station & Footbridge | DesignInc in collaboration with TZG Architects

Medlow Bath Station and Footbridge project transforms a disjointed, busy highway and rail crossing into an inclusive public place. This 36-metre span curved steel bridge restores pedestrian connectivity, respects the setting of the State-heritage station, and reveals views over the Megalong Valley to the World-heritage listed Greater Blue Mountains Area. Universal access, intuitive wayfinding, resting places, and integrated First Nations and heritage interpretation, embed people and culture into the journey. A dedicated First Nations pavement artwork references the local fauna emblem whilst durable material selection ensures resilience in the harsh mountain climate. Opened in April 2025, the project achieved a Platinum sustainability rating. It delivered measured reductions in construction emissions, operational energy, and water use. The project demonstrates how thoughtful design unites functionality, cultural sensitivity and beauty to create a meaningful and durable community landmark.
